New Shoes! Boss Orange!

Check it! New shoes from the Boss Orange Spring and Summer 2011 collection! This particular pair is called “Madisonn”. It’s black leather with some snake-print (?) leather trim on the cut-outs. Very sexy and cute.

Boss Orange Shoes!

I usually wear it with skinny jeans, but today I am sporting a short skirt. This isn’t a fashion blog, but I do like to showcase some style while I live in Japan.

Stylin' New Shoes

Oh yeah — Marc and I went to a BBQ. He took some pictures. Check it!

It says, “Good manners”. Who better to tell me all about good manners than a rice ball wielding crab?

True Stories from English Class #17

We were working on relative pronouns and the students were suppose to guess the movie after I read the hint. Sometimes the hints were too obvious like “It’s about a man who has super powers and flies through the sky saving people. What a super guy!” Because of this, the students have developed a knack of grabbing keywords and answering.

Ana: It’s about a girl who has a fantastic dream in which she and her dog, Toto, have many experiences. How fantastic!

R-kun: FANTASTIC FOUR!

Izu Beaches: Secret Beach

One random day, Marc and I decided to drive along the coast of Izu towards Omezaki to search for a new beach. We found a random one that can only be accessed after rappelling down a slightly steep hill. It became one of my favorite beaches to go to this summer because of its isolated nature and crystal clear water. Oh, and it’s free. Completely free.

Footage was taken with Marc’s old Canon waterproof camera.

Izu Beaches: Shoubuzawa Beach

Shobuzawa Beach Day!

The first beach Marc and I went to this summer was Shoubuzawa Beach. Located a hop, skip and jump away from Shimoda, Shoubuzawa is out of the way and not well known to most except those who have an interest in diving. It’s also close to Izu Andy Land, a museum with white snapping turtles and elephant turtles, — one in particular is named Andy, I think. Rumor has it, turtle races are conducted there. I may check it out in the future.

Here’s a small video highlighting the awesome coast and the foliage in the ocean.

True Stories from English Class #16

Nothing like some good ole domestic conflict to spice up an English lesson. I found this particular dialogue from an intermediate-level English textbook for ESL students.

Gold. I can see Oscar potential. I may even re-enact this one for YouTube.

New Shoes! VW x Melissa!

Vivienne Westwood x Melissa!

Vivienne Westwood x Melissa!

Love love love! I bought these for about $100 CDN at Gotemba Premium Outlets.

This particular pair is called the Ultragirl. Sleek shiny black eco-friendly thermoplastic shoes and part of Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania collection. Although Melissa shoes has also done collaborations with other designers, I particularly like the Vivenne Westwood collection with its pop colours and bold simple centerpieces.

Once it’s cheap and available, I want to get the bright fushia “Dragon Lady” heels. Patience, my pet. Patience.

Fireworks: Nagaoka

Fireworks at Nagaoka

KRACK-A-BOOM!!

The above is the wibbly-wobbly picture of fireworks over the Kanogawa River in the neighbouring, er, neighbourhood of Nagaoka.

Marc and I were driving down the road when we spotted this fireworks display. We happened to have cameras with us; however, my lack of expertise and mini tripod could only produce the one good picture above. The rest was crap, like this one:

True Stories from English Class #15

Or Delinquents are Cute When Young.

I was outside and a class of little grade 4 Japanese kids were puttering around their plastic cube potting plants. K-kun looked at me and beckoned me over, “Ana-sensei! Ana-sensei!”

Ana: “Yes?”
K-kun: (motions over his plant) “Negi!
Ana: “Negi?

K-kun then pulls a round onion bulb out of the planter and holds it up by the green long stems. He thinks for a while.

K-kun: “Onion!” (He beams proudly.)
Ana: “Oh! Onion!”

K-kun looks over and spots his friend. He then starts swinging the onion by the stems like a viking swinging a mace. He yells, runs and then hits his friend squarely on his head by the fat onion bulb — Braveheart-style.

K-kun: “ONIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!

Camera Nerd King

You know you’re the camera nerd king once a group of Japanese camera enthusiasts decide to take your picture because they recognize the Nikon camera on your shirt.

This is my fiance, the Camera Nerd King.

Shuzenji Camera Fans: Group

Look at how happy this local Japanese tourists looks.

Shuzenji Camera Fans

These shots were taken at Shuzenji with my Olympus EP-1 camera. I was taking some practice photo shots, movie shots and tried to use Marc’s tripod as a shoulder stabilizer.

Marc wasn’t even carrying a camera that day — he carried the tripod.
