It's Been a Long Time

What can I say? It’s been a long time. It is 11 o’clock in the evening and I find myself sitting on clouds of fluffy green pillows and blankets, mind hazy, vision blurry. My television – rather, my room mate’s television – had sadly passed away last night, weakly blinking its last few amber tweaks of energy before it died away in blackness. I feel as if I should be much more concerned, but I’m not.

We did not have cable.

At nights like these I feel as if I should be much more productive; instead I find myself surfing the interwebs, listening to old school R&B tunes, dusting off the cobwebs from the laptop and hoping that it’d get off its lazy spine and write my thoughts down for me. Lazy laptop.

While my lazy laptop belligerently stares me down refusing to type out a single word,  this quiet moment does give me time to reflect of the recent ongoings of my life. Recently, my room mate, his best friend, and I went down to Calgary to run a few errands, some of it related to my trip to the Big J. I had also hoped that there would be time to see  John James’ exhibition at Gallery101, but there was not enough time in the day. (I am a proud owner of Cafe Warrior, brass and mixed metal earrings from the Integral line, lovingly handcrafted by her sister.)

While in my city rival, I turned my attention to my most recent hobby and skill: cinematography. I do not have any James Cameron-esque inspirations or Titanic expectations — Yes, pun was indeed intended – but it is one skill I would like to be adequately skilled before heading to the Big J. My dedication to my studies has earned me much stares and odd glances from the typical passerby and denizens of downtown Calgary who was privy to my one-woman camera show. (To a random man in Calgary: I did not punch you. I know my hand resembled a fist, but I was holding on to my small camera. Yes, it was small and you might not have seen it, but it was there. Again, I did not punch you.)

I do not have much to say, so I provided this accompanying YouTube video that I constructed myself. I present to you the first of The Savage Muse Extras (Omake) series: Ana Goes to Calgary
